Guerilla Ballroom

2008 - INTERACTION / INTERVENTION

What is needed to transform a piece of urban no-man’s land into a public ballroom?

In this social and spatial experiment shoes with pieces of flint underneath heels and toe shine a new light on the street and give this inferior urban space a new, social and lively function. The unused piece of public space is being ‘reclaimed’ and revived for the moment, without making any physical adjustments to the place. A sufficient amount of space and the rough surface of street stones is all that is needed to turn this outdoor area into a dancing floor.

The ‘recipe’ of this ‘urban tool’ (the shoes) is made public and spread through social media (www.instructables.com).
